Well I have been reviewing 3 books including S is for Scraps for couple of days now working on 1 project from each book and I reviewed "S is for Scraps" 18 great quilts by Gayle Bong. This quilting book is different from the one I did few days ago. This book features very simple quilts made with scraps yet stunning so beginner's would love to use this book for it's simplicity in pattern and techniques while advanced quilter's would love to make these quilts for that stunning look they can create with all the scraps they have for sometime now. In each quilt the author has clearly explained making the quilt starting with material's reuired, cutting of fabrics, how to make the blocks to finishing the quilt. She also talks about various techniques and tips which were new to me. I personally love the Leap Year Quilt for the various colors used and the stunning effect of batiks it has. I plan to make 2-3 quilts of this desing but may make it as baby quilt, so busy cutting some squares. So which quilt will you start with those Scraps you have with S is for Scraps!!!!!
About the Author: Designer Gayle Bong has been quilting for more than 25 years. She first learned to sew by watching her mother; by ninth grade she was making most of her own clothes. Designing quilts and writing patterns come naturally to Gayle, who has always been attracted to geometric patterns, fabric, math, puzzles, and writing. She is particularly enthusiastic about her fast, contemporary cutting and piecing techniques and shares them enthusiastically in her classes. She has authored several quiltmaking books and teaches her techniques at quilt shows and guilds throughout the country.
Pros: Simple yet beautiful looking with use of scraps
Cons: None found in explanation, I haven't finished any quilt yet currently working on 1.
Overall: Good Book
